Spartans Keep Rolling
Michigan State tied and beat #9 Alaska Fairbanks this weekend. MSU only allowed one 5 on 5 goal all weekend. They are unbeaten against two top ten teams this season and have 4 points already in the CCHA. It was important for State to get off on the right foot to start CCHA play. Drew Palmisano had a great weekend in goal and our special teams was particularly good. I would say that Friday was kind of a sloppy game by both teams, but we were able to fight back and get the tie. The Spartans fell in a shootout on Friday night with a controversial call disallowing Dean Chelios' goal. The Spartans will have it a little easier this weekend against Alabama-Huntsville, but we can't take a tourney team from last year lightly. MSU is currently ranked #11/#14. They are playing as good if not better than any team in the CCHA.
