Freshman Class- Torey Krug
Torey Krug is a 5-9 defenseman from Livonia, Michigan. He skated with Indiana of the USHL last year, where he scored 10 goals and had 37 assists in 59 games. Krug will be one of the top defensemen this season for the Spartans. He is a smart player and speedy skater, which help him overcome his size. Krug has a bright future ahead of him at Michigan State.

I was a skeptic thinking that Krug could play at this level because of the size of the CCHA players. However after watching him play in the GLI final versus RPI my thinking was way off base. Krug played with confidence, positionally was flawless, he reads the play very well and jumped in at times to create offense. I was totally impressed with his play and the kid is only a Freshman. Look for him to be a leader on this team in the future!
ReplyDeleteI've just recently began watching college hockey this year, mainly because of the success of Tyler Bozak and Matt Gilroy. I wanted to check out who else might jump to the NHL. Krug has quickly become my favorite player in the NCAA, and if I was a scout I'd have his name on my list. As a rookie, he's been dominant, and he'll only get better.
